Rockwood Innovation Station Ground Breaking

[masterslider id=”5″]
On August 26, Multnomah County officials conducted a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Rockwood Innovation Station at Rockwood Library.

The MHCRC’s Community Technology Grant support has given Multnomah County Library a boost toward helping Rockwood community youth become academically successful and career ready. The Rockwood Innovation Station aims to address community disparities by broadening access to connected learning (learning that is socially embedded, interest-driven, and oriented toward educational or economic opportunity) through engaging, technology-focused curriculum opportunities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). The Rockwood Innovation Station will provide adult mentors and a makerspace with access to online learning tools and resources, 3D printers, laser cutters, robotics kits, and video and audio equipment for youth to discover their passion and develop career-ready skills.

The new 1,000-square-foot addition funded by a grant from the MHCRC and private donations to The Library Foundation is expected to open in early 2016.
